When a cat dies they go to the otherworld. Basically the otherworld is the same area where the cat died. Different groups of cats call it different things. The clans call it StarClan. So when a cat dies they go to StarClan. StarClan's hunting grounds are the same hunting grounds used by the living clan cats, except that borders are not reinforce and it is peaceful. These StarClan warriors, as we will call them, are not seen by the living clan cats but they can see the living cats. To make StarClan their own, they block out the living cats, even though they share the same hunting ground. Understanding this is key to understanding how a Seer works.

In normal cats, the living cat is only aware of the living organisms in its environment. The dead cat however is aware of the living and dead cats in the same environment. For a Seer however the living Seer is aware of the living and dead organisms in its environment. Seer's, depending on their level can also interact with these dead cats. Levels will be discussed later.

Seer's can also be called ghost watcher, seer of the dead, dead watcher and dead talker. All of these are correct name but Seer is the most politically correct. Some can even be offensive, such as dead talker. Moving on, now we will discuss the different levels of Seer's. There are three different levels of Seer's: Level one, level two and level three.

• Level one Seer's are the most common. They include cats like leaders and medicine cats. Level one Seer's are cats with a special connection with the dead. These cats can talk to the dead and receive messages from the dead; however theses cats have no control over what they hear/ see, when they hear/see it or who they talk to. The only way a level one Seer can control when they talk to the dead is through the aid of a special place or object. Like the Moonstone and Highstones.
  
• Level two Seer's can talk to the dead, hear the dead and see them everywhere all the time. When the dead cats block out the living they can't block out level two or three Seer's. Level two Seer's can also tell evil cat from non-evil cats. They do this by seeing the dark aura that the evil cats give off. This aura is black mixed with dark purple and is constantly swirling around the evil cat. Level two Seer's are rarer then level ones but not as rare as level threes.
  
• Level three Seer’s are the most powerful and the most skilled. This category includes Sionn and Kael. Level three Seer’s can talk to the dead, hear the dead, physically touch the dead, summon the dead, become possesed by the dead for short periods and can better determine evil cats in the same way a level two does, except that the aura will be a little darker/ more noticeable. However touching the dead, and becoming posseded by the dead must be worked on to use this ability without a high emotion of some sort or high energy drain. Level threes are the rarest of all Seers’.

Now you may be wondering why Kael and Sionn have the same eerie green eyes. The answer is that for level three Seers their eye color is identical to the first level three Seers in their family. So Sionn gets his eye color from Kael and Kael got the eye color from the previous level three Seers, and so on back to the first level three Seer in their family. Level three Seers also have no set coat pattern. Level two and one Seers have no set coat pattern or eye color.

Although level two and three Seer’s often have lighter colored eyes like blue and green, but not always. A Seer is born into their level and they can’t go up or down in level. A level one Seer may have children of a higher level. Level two Seer’s can have children of higher or lower level, the same goes for level threes. However when a Seer has a child then the child is most likely to be born into that level if at all it does become a Seer. A Seer’s life tends to be lonely as most cats have a hard time understanding their gift and regard them as crazy. After all who wants to be mate to a crazy cat. This does not mean that Seer’s can’t take a mate, just that it is not as easy for them as is for a normal cat.

A Seer does usually have a small number of ghost cats that will travel with them, either it be because of a special bond or simply because the ghost cat wants to. Theses cats are called the Seer’s circle. A Seer determines the number of cats if any they want to travel with them. The more cats in the Seer’s circle the easier the Seer’s end task. The fewer cats the harder the end task. The end task will be discussed later. The Seer’s circle’s job is to protect the Seer and to help the Seer in general, especially with the Seer’s end task. The Seer’s end task refers to the task a Seer carries out a few moons before they die. What happens is that the Seer sends out their circle to find a young Seer, about the age of a new, clan apprentice.

The circle will start with the family then if no Seer is found they will start looking to other cats. Once a Seer is found the circle will return and tell the Seer. The Seer will then travel to that cat and teach them about their gift. This does not mean that this is the only time a Seer can train a cat to use their gift just that it most often happens during this time. A Seer does not even have to carry out this task, but it is thought to be dishonourable to not carry out this task because they could not be bothered to do it.

The life of a Seer is filled with responsibility because the dead they talk to share things with them that are important to that cat. A Seer must learn what information should and should not be shared with the living cats. This is everything about Seer’s you wanted to know but were afraid to ask.
